Childbirth Pages

A Disclaimer of sorts

I was interested in addressing the subject of childbirth because, in traveling through my experiences, I've been surprised and appalled at the lack of information young women have in this area. A vital area, of overwhelming importance, is veiled and pushed into unobtrusive corners. It is brazenly overshadowed by the parade of contraceptive information.

I am not an expert in the professional sense; I am an expert in my own experiences, only. Those are the ten full-term pregnancies and births of my children. Along the way I have gathered some information to share, and a few pathways to point to. I hope these things make the way easier for those women who are making their birth choices, now.

I don't usually profess an unqualified and general love for people I have not met, but if you are a woman in your childbearing stage of life, I can really say I want you to have the blessing of a healthy baby, pregnancy, and recovery.

A word on doctors and the medical establishment: please do not get me wrong, although I find fault with many procedures and point out matters that I consider detrimental, I really am grateful for the care and efforts of the professional caregivers and hospitals. I was dependent on their services even when choosing homebirth, since I had RH Factor and required the Rhogam shot. I am thankful to God that I gave birth to my children in times when that intervention was available. Otherwise, who knows the heartache of miscarriage and possible stillbirths or retardation might have occurred? We have much advanced scientific expertise available, but it should not usurp our personal responsibility. We still must make informed decisions on our health choices.

Informed decision-making is the goal of this site. Look over the information and follow the links, all is included to give you the best that I can offer from my experience and the web. May you and your baby thrive!
